Higher Visions
The multitude of eyes symbolizes:
Complete vigilance and awareness – nothing in creation escapes their notice.
Omniscient insight – reflecting God’s all seeing nature.
Full knowledge of all things – past present and future.
The accompanying wheels within wheels are interpreted as God’s mobile throne or chariot.
The four living creatures are heavenly beings that minister before God’s throne.
They are symbolic beings that represent God’s sovereignty over all aspects of existence.
They also reflect the attributes of the Creator of the Universe:
- Lion – Dominion, Authority, Boldness, Power
- Eagle – Great Vision, Swiftness, Tenacity, Fearlessness, Transcendence
- Ox – Humility, Diligence, Faithfulness, Strength
- Man – Intelligence, Wisdom, Grace, Reconciliation
Two years ago I began adding eyeballs into my living creatures paintings after a dream in which I was seated in a restaurant, waiting to be served. Suddenly a platter of eyeballs was placed before me. I felt excited and amazed, and I examined them closely, trying to understand what I was seeing.
This second living creatures painting with eyeballs marks a continued unfolding of what began in the dream two years ago. The timing is significant. I have slowly come to realise the significance of the timing of what Yahweh is saying at this season and time. It is no longer walk of faith in search of the highs of eternal reach which is often revealed to those wanting know our Creator. It feels like a movement from seeking to beholding — from striving toward heights to having eyes opened to realms already present and waiting, and knowing who we really are.
